Tanveer and Qasim at International Sailing Championship

Seasoned sailors, Qasim Abbas and Mohammad Tanveer took some further steps towards getting their crowns as they sustained to lead the 2nd Chief of Air Staff at this year’s International Sailing Championship on the third day also. This championship is being held at the Arabian Sea. Competitors thought that it was absolutely a perfect day for them unlike some previous days that saw winds picking up a high speed. The wind was not at all fast on that day and rain offered the sailors to give their best performance. For them, it was the second last day of the event. A total of 13 nations participated in the event.


Tanveer belonging to the PAF maintained his lead in the Laser Standard at the peak. He got nine points after completing the 9 races out of the series of twelve races that is yet to conclude. He has also faced trouble during his 7th race when his boat upturned. He escaped with slight injuries. He sailed in a superb manner in the next two races and with confidence. Tanveer said that his first race was not as good because of his boat upturned. But he kept control for the other two races. He also said that he will try to give his best to keep his run as it is in the upcoming races.

Asri Asman did not have luck on his side as he dropped from the third position to fifth.  He did not even finish all the three races that took place on a single day. The day was wrapped with him getting only 35 points after nine races. Qasim Abbas maintained his position at the summit for the RS:X event as he collected a total of nine points.
